Bellevue Castle

Summer Festival of the Federal President 2010

New stage for the new president

On 2nd July 2010, the newly elected Federal President Christian Wulff celebrated the traditional summer festival with over 5,000 guests in the park of castle Bellevue. Opera-Tent provided for this high level event their exclusive stage roof with 385 sqm of covered area and 260sqm integrated stage.

"I cannot think of a better way of inauguration than to celebrate such a festival" Wulff said at his welcoming speech on the castle stage.

Among the guests were the former Federal President Richard von Weizsäcker, Federal Minister Jens Böhrnsen, the Doyen of the Diplomatic Corps, Jean-Claude Perisset, Frank Walter Steinmeier, Jürgen Trittin, Renate Kuenast, Joachim Gauck, Wolfgang Thierse and federal ministers Kristina Schroeder, Dirk Niebel and Norbert Roettgen as well as other VIPs like Jette Joop, Vicky Leandros, Gloria von Thurn und Taxis, Ulrich Deppendorf and many more.

This year invitees were those who contributed to the German reunification in the past 20 years under the slogan “Happiness - Change -Solidarity”.

Opera-Tent set up for this event its exclusive stage roof including 260qm stage floor. The so called "castle stage" functioned as the central location of the event. In addition to the performances of the RIAS Chamber Choir and the National Youth Orchestra, Peter Maffay and band rocked the stage. After fireworks over castle Bellevue Tom Gaebel & his Big Band invited visitors to dance.

Compared to previous summer festivals, the Agency CB.e Clausecker | Bingel. Ereignisse AG proposed a new concept incorporating the garden park. The novelty of this concept was the location of the main stage - between the castle terrace and the pond. Therefore CB.e looked for a stage canopy which would fit stylishly into the park, which would not be too bold and high, but which would provide enough stage space. "We researched the internet and came across www.Opera Tent.com" said one of those responsible, Orhan Köse. "The shape of the stage inspired us immediately and furthermore we saw that all our selection criteria would be met."

The Opera tent as stage type is 25 meters deep, almost 19m wide and almost 8m high. It covered an area of 385qm and provided plenty of space for a 16m x 16m wide stage. Also the first rows of the audience were protected under the opaque and rain-proof roof! This provided effective protection from the shining sun, thus ensuring a pleasant atmosphere on stage.

The genius system of the tent is that it was possible to set it up in just one day, including the stage floor. CB.e was surprised how quickly the stage was ready  for other companies to take up their job.
