Federal President’s Summer Festival 2010
Schloss Bellevue, Germany
New stage for the new president
On July 2, 2010, the newly sworn-in Federal President Christian Wulff celebrated the traditional summer festival with over 5000 guests in the Bellevue Palace park. Opera-Tent erected their exclusive stage roof for this occasion with 385sqm of covered area and 260sqm of integrated stage.
“One cannot imagine a more beautiful way of inauguration than celebrating such a festival together,” said Wulff in greeting on the palace stage.
Among the guests were former Federal President Richard von Weizsäcker, Federal Council President Jens Böhrnsen, the Doyen of the Diplomatic Corps, Jean-Claude Périsset, Frank Walter Steinmeier, Jürgen Trittin, Renate Künast, Joachim Gauck, Wolfgang Thierse and the Ministers Kristina Schröder, Dirk Niebel, Norbert Röttgen, Jette Joop, Vicky Leandros, Gloria von Thurn und Taxis, Ulrich Deppendorf and many more.
This year, under the motto “Joy – Change – Solidarity,” people were invited who had contributed to unity over the past twenty years and brought the country together.
Opera-Tent provided their exclusive stage roof including 260sqm of stage flooring for this event. This formed one of the central points of the event as the “palace stage.” In addition to performances by the RIAS Chamber Choir and the Federal Youth Orchestra, Peter Maffay with band rocked the stage. After the fireworks over Bellevue Palace, Tom Gaebel & His Big Band invited guests to dance.
Compared to previous summer festivals, the agency CB.e Clausecker | Bingel. Ereignisse AG implemented a new event concept incorporating the garden character of the palace park. What was new about this concept was also the placement of the large stage – between the palace terrace and palace pond. Therefore, CB.e went in search of a stage covering that would fit stylishly into the park, not be too bulky and high, yet still offer sufficient stage area. “We researched quite classically on the internet and then came across Opera-Tent.com,” said one of those responsible, Orhan Köse. “The shape of the stage immediately excited us and we also saw all our selection criteria fulfilled.”
The Opera-Tent in the stage variant is 25m deep, almost 19m wide and nearly 8m high. It covers an area of 385sqm and thus offers sufficient space for a 16m x 16m stage. Even the first rows of spectators found shelter under the light-impermeable and rainproof roof covering! This provided real sun protection in brilliant sunshine and over 30 degrees, ensuring a pleasant climate on the stage.
The sophisticated system makes construction possible in just one day including stage flooring, and CB.e was also surprised how quickly the stage was erected and subsequent trades could begin their work.
